[ The loss of Akvos hits hard, for all of Lucina's efforts. Telling herself - not her fault, not her responsibility, not her home - well, that would just be callow, wouldn't it? Certainly to the shame of her line, her father's disappointment, the loss of Naga's blessing. Those are all distant, irrational fears, and ones she need not compound a tragedy with. Making it about herself is distinctly selfish, she knows. On the other hand, what are her shoulders for if not bearing failure so others can succeed?
As her first jump is now over, Lucina is perhaps a bit overzealous in ensuring her comrades are well and whole in the wake of it.
Her texting is still very, very sad. ]
connor,?
are you here
?
[ The fuck does that even mean? ]

It's uncommon of her to be this thoughtful with her words. Ultimately, what gets sent is: ]
i
am glad you're safely returned
please, wait right there
[ That is, indeed, what she means! She has little patience for a conversation wholly over the watches after all this.
Dropping back into the temple without even much change to get dry, he'll likely hear the squelch of her boots long before he sees her. This seems to be a recurring theme through-out their encounters: some sort of water-based misfortune, or embarrassment. A watch lost to a sink, being pulled into a pool by an overly curious kelpie, or just Lucina looking like a miserable (and very blue) drowned rat.
Any greeting feels too small after that. ]

[ Likewise, Lucina lost her cloak in one of the dreamscapes and woke up without it - it's a source of confusion, but she's seen too much to question it with any urgency. They're all a little lesser than they were before Akvos, even if that metaphor is tied up in accoutrements.
Joining him, she doesn't look especially more relaxed for it. ]
Connor.
... [ A sigh, then somewhat wryly -- ] You look very damp.
[ That's a joke.
She's funny. ]

[ Well, she bungled that, didn't she? Lucina looks briefly confused, and then apologetic. ...Damp (see what I did there) and apologetic. ]
No, Connor. That isn't what I meant.
[ An awkward little pause, then - in an earnestness of her own - ]
Are you hurt at all?
No, Connor. That isn't what I meant.

[ She's fine. She's used to it. The world - the gods, whatever - dump her places and she deals. Rebuilds. Whatever Connor was about to say is more interesting, and she ends up pressing him to elaborate. ]
But what?
But what?
[ And then, an hour or two after their last (above) conversation: ]
connor
what is a robot
are you the kid robot?
connor

[ ... okay, but what if her brain just jumped out of her head and floated off into the cold nothingness of space? Because that's what it feels like doing right now.
She follows up with an equally intelligent question. ]
are you saylight?
daylight
it seems unlikely, you are not very large

cayde-6 described daylight as the big robot who is also a kid
it did not feel like a very fitting description of you
but i wasn't sure who else to ask

if you could do one thing right now
anything in the WORLD
(that can happen at the temple anyway)
what would it be?
lmk then meet me outside in 20 minutes
[ Whether or not Connor finds himself in a state of needing cheering up...this is happening, apparently. ]

[ In retrospect, he should have figured that Connor would analyze a question like that to death — honestly, it'd be difficult for a human to answer, too, especially considering what many of them want the most right now is out of their reach. Maybe this was the wrong approach.
But he is committed to this plan now, and while Connor doesn't give him specifics to work with, he can...improvise. Maybe not always effectively, but he can figure something out, especially once he and Connor are together and he can get a better read on his friend.
Hey, even if that thing winds up being just shooting the breeze, it could be worse. ]
nah i got you man
take those 20 mins to think and meet me in the courtyard anyway
ill bring some rubber ducks
[ Hey, who knows, they might cheer them up, just a little. ]

[ He won't have to look too long; ostentatious as ever, Prompto is sitting on one of the benches, an assortment of rubber ducks next to him. Sitting is kind of a relative term, because when he's actually on the bench, his knees bounce with a frenetic energy, and when that's not enough, he's up on his feet again, pacing around and drumming his fingers against his arms.
Once Connor arrives however, his demeanor shifts, that nervous energy eaten up (mostly, anyway) by a focused grin. It's still there, in the back of his mind — the fear that even this is selfish, because it's distracting him from everything that's been plaguing his mind. But if it helps Connor out, too, then...it's not a bad thing, right?
Everything's just felt so uncertain since Noct left. ]
Soooo! You got an answer yet, Conno?
[ Akvos may have vanished into an abyss, but that nickname has not. ]

[ And his demeanor shifts again — into genuine surprise this time, Prompto's eyebrows flying up into his hair. ]
...Wait, for real? That's the one thing in the whole wide temple you'd want to do right now? Ask about my ducks? Dude.
[ ...But then again, maybe it isn't all that surprising. Connor is, after all, investigative to the last, and it's not like Prompto gave any indication as to why he brought them. Maybe that was the only logical conclusion for Connor to come to, if he wasn't going to pick something like, say, eating a whole cake by himself or launching some pumpkins into the air. (These might have been among Prompto's choices.)
A moment passes — and then Prompto's bewilderment gives way to a pure, unadulterated peal of laughter. ]
Heh, alright, that's easy enough! I mean...they're kinda cheery on their own, right?
[ Twisting around, he picks up one of the ducks and then squeaks it in Connor's direction. ]
Figured it's pret-ty impossible to be glum when you got one of these babies keepin' you company. [ ... ] But we could also try to sail 'em on the lake.
[ There's enough for a whole crew here. ]
